Thomson-East Coast Line

The Thomson-East Coast Line (TEL) will bring residents in the east and along the North-South Corridor closer to a train station, providing them with quicker access to the city. Commuters can expect to save up to 50% on travel time when using the TEL.

Anticipate more route options with eight interchanges connecting to all the major lines: the East-West Line (EWL), North-South Line (NSL), North East Line (NEL), Circle Line (CCL), Downtown Line (DTL), and the Cross Island Line (CRL). Once fully completed, the TEL will offer convenience to about 1 million commuters daily and help reduce crowding on the East-West and North-South Lines.

To meet commuter demand along the line, 91 new, fully-automated, four-car trains will be introduced – the first of their kind in Singapore. These trains will have more doors for faster boarding and will be 92.9 meters long, compared to the 70-meter-long three-car trains on the Circle Line (CCL) and Downtown Line (DTL). Additionally, they will feature the exciting LCD Dynamic Route Map Display (DRMD).

All stations will feature additional entrances to enhance accessibility, along with longer pedestrian underpasses to provide more shelter and reduce walking times.

Four stations along the TEL – Marine Parade, Marine Terrace, Bayshore, and Sungei Bedok – will feature Singapore’s first underground bicycle parking facilities, allowing commuters to conveniently cycle to and from the stations and their homes.
